=A little throwback to 3rd January 2017, when I had my IMU interview =
My interview was scheduled at 2:30 pm but we were required to arrive half an hour earlier to register ourselves. Well, being 'kiasu', my mum and I arrived at the main entrance of the uni around 1pm, wearing a formal dress and high heels, holding a folder filled with my certs.
I was required to register at a counter in front of the entrance to get a visitor pass. After then, we went to the Student Service Office and met a lady (super friendly) that was in-charge of the interview, I registered there and confirmed the validity of my certs. Next, my mum and I was brought into a small room to watch a video on 'what to do after the interview?'. Since my mum and I are quite talkative person *laugh*, we had a great talk with the lady and had known a lot more about the systems and student experience in IMU.
Well, TIME FLIES, it was time for the interview and a student volunteer led me to the interview room while my mum was arranged to chat with a lecturer. Along the way, I chatted with the senior and lots of experience in school were discussed. It was actually a short walk but lots of info was acquired, thanks to my talkative trait haha. After waiting for quite some time outside of the interview room, I was called by one of the interviewers, but to be honest, being embraced by all that chit-chat, I didn't even have the time to be nervous! (Which I'm super grateful for)
I was being interviewed by two Indians, a lady and a man, who were really friendly!
Below are some questions being asked on interview day:
1. Tell me more about yourself.
2. Why did you choose IMU?
3. One of your strength and weakness. (Tip: Do more elaboration! Especially for the weakness part, try to elaborate on how you overcome it.)
4. Tell me about your positive traits. (I explained on how I developed those traits, e.g.: Debate Team, President, Secretary in choir and Vice-Chairman in choir camp)
5. What experience do you have in a hospital? (Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to do any shadowing in the past due to hectic schedule in clubs, but still I mentioned that few of my family members were hospitalised before and I did a lot during those times in the hospital)
6. Case Study: (Well I can't remember the exact questions but it's sth like this)
You applied for a prestigious uni but you were rejected, but after some time they informed you that you will get the offer if you attend the course on the next day, but unfortunately, your sister's wedding which is held overseas clashes its date. What would you choose?
The interviewers will try to change your stand and asking some questions like: Your sister would be so sad as the wedding is a once in a lifetime thing etc. But still I managed not to change (YAY).
Then, they opened for questions and I asked them 2. Finally, the interview came to an end!(PHEW)
(Back to the office, I found out that my mum was happily chatting with the lecturer (now I know where the genes come from haha), after seeing me, she was like "So fast?!", yes, indeed time flies when you enjoy yourself haha)
Anyway, the whole interview experience in IMU was superb, all the staffs and students were so friendly and what really made me impressed was the fact that all staffs and students perform teamwork so well during the interview day.
Fortunately, I received the offer letter after a week and I'm now a soon to be IMU student in a weeks time! And I'm really excited about it!
